The Somerville
is a space for children and young people to play and learn freely and to develop responsibility for themselves and their actions. We offer a variety of high quality, stimulating and challenging informal educational activities. Through these we encourage children and young people to become competent, confident, independent and cooperative individuals and steer them away from crime and antisocial behaviour. Overcoming barriers, learning new skills and promoting positive relationships with peers, parents and carers are at the heart of everything we do.
We meet the needs of parents and carers by listening and responding to their views and concerns. We share and discuss their child’s achievements, experiences, progress and friendships, along with any difficulties that may arise.
At the Somerville we provide the opportunity for lifelong learning so that adults and families can benefit from the development of practical skills and experiences. We promote healthy lifestyles and strive to reduce the impact of poverty in the local community.
We are a space where older people can share and enhance their skill sets. Where they can make and maintain connections with peers and others from their community.
We offer our local community members a space that is inclusive and respectful; free from bullying or discrimination where staff are well trained and well supported.
