
Lead Play Worker (Part Time, 1yr Fixed Term)
£32,000 pro rata | New Cross
The Lead Play Worker will lead Somerville’s adventure play provision, ensuring children and young people have access to a safe, joyful, challenging and child-led space where they can play freely, take positive risks, build confidence, develop friendships and explore the world on their own terms.
The role will combine direct play work, session leadership, family engagement, safeguarding, risk-benefit practice, staff support and care for the play environment. The Lead Play Worker will work closely with children, young people, parents and carers, helping Somerville remain a trusted, welcoming and well-loved space.
The Lead Play Worker will help protect and grow Somerville’s identity as an adventure playground: a place where children can climb, build, explore, test themselves, make choices, manage risk, negotiate with others, get muddy, make noise, and experience the freedom and joy of play.
We’re looking for: Lead Play Worker P/T £32,000 pro rata, 22.5 hours per week.
Plus a 5% employers pension contribution.
This post is fixed term for 1 year subject to performance and securing further funding.
The post holder will be required to work all School Holidays.
An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
